I’m Bijal Shah, founder of Newlight Collective.
I’m an operational strategist that partners with individuals and teams to evaluate their current state, build structure around chaos, and develop a path forward.
For over twelve years, I’ve worked with large health systems, nonprofits, and startups to move processes and metrics from stalled to on track. Most recently I was the Chief Program Officer at Hot Bread Kitchen, and prior to that I worked at organizations like Kaiser Permanente and Brightline Health where I led strategy execution, created and launched innovative care models, and drove improvement in care quality, access and efficiency. I hold an MHSA from the University of Michigan School of Public Health, and am currently pursuing an ICF coaching credential. I live in Montclair, NJ with my husband, two daughters, and our dog. In my free time, I love spending time by the water and getting lost in a puzzle.
My name, Bijal, means light, in two forms: lightning and the crescent moon. I didn’t intentionally set out to build a business around my name, but I realized those words described precisely what I love doing. Lightning is the sudden "aha," the insight that makes everything click. The crescent moon represents growth, new beginnings, and cycles of change. This is what I bring to teams and individuals I partner with - I shine a light on what’s been hard to see, to a problem no one could quite solve, to a path that’s felt stuck for too long. Newlight brings energy, learning, and a clear path to outcomes.
